This committee of volunteers is appointed to make specific recommendations to the Town Board concerning farmland and open space preservation. |
|
Preservation of farmland and open space is a pillar of the community-wide dedication to continuation of a rural life style enjoyed in the Town of Southold. Preservation is accomplished under the Farmland program, the Open Space program and under the Community Preservation Fund program. Partnerships with Suffolk County, New York State, the Federal Government and not-for-profit land preservation groups add to local efforts.
The Land Preservation Committee meets twice a month and the Land Preservation Department is open daily. You are encouraged to speak with the Coordinator to discuss questions or to arrange to participate in any of the regular meetings of the Land Preservation Committee. Serious dialog is ongoing concerning the merit and method of possible preservation of land within Southold Town. |
