SPRING LEAF AND BRUSH
CLEANUP
The Southold Town Spring cleanup
program GRACE PERIOD
At The Cutchogue Compost Site
(631-734-7685) STARTS
SATURDAY,
APRIL 12, 2008!
Leaves and brush will be
accepted free of charge (i.e., no tip fee) during a four-week grace period
at the Cutchogue Compost Site. This
grace period (for residents who wish to dispose of their own yard debris) will
begin Saturday, April 12, 2008, and continue through Sunday, May 11, 2008.
NOTE:
Residents may also bring leaves free of charge year-round if
placed in brown biodegradable paper bags. A
valid Town disposal sticker is required; if not, the applicable single entry fee
will still apply ($5.00 for cars and pickups/more for larger vehicles).
Biodegradable bags are available for purchase at both the Compost Site
and Town Clerk’s Office (41 cents per bag), as well as at various local
businesses.
ATTENTION:
COMMERCIAL LANDSCAPING COMPANIES
DURING THE FOUR-WEEK GRACE
PERIOD, RESIDENTIAL YARD WASTE LOAD TIPPING FEES WILL BE WAIVED FOR UP TO TWO
(2) LOADS [PER COMMERCIAL COMPANY] PER DAY; HOWEVER, NO GRASS CLIPPINGS AND/OR
LAND-CLEARING DEBRIS MAY BE INCLUDED.
All commercial carters must
possess a valid Town disposal sticker.
Please be advised that the Town’s Compost Site maintains a zero-tolerance
policy with regard to contamination in yard waste loads.
Anyone caught dumping mixed loads will be fined and charged accordingly;
they will also be eliminated from participating in the free tipping program.
The following items are not included in the free disposal program.
All of the
following are subject to a charge for their disposal:
Land-clearing Debris - Tree Stumps - Lumber - Dirt - Rocks
- Metal - Grass

The precise timing of cleanup on any specific
street(s) cannot be predicted.
Therefore, residents must place their leaves and branches near the side of the
road (NOT IN THE PAVED AREA) no earlier than Tuesday, April 1st!
All
leaves must be in biodegradable brown paper bags.

This cleanup service is provided by the Southold Town
Highway Department. Please
note that cleanup may be interrupted due to emergencies, holidays and/or
weather-related conditions.
