Q: How and when do I apply for exemptions?

 

You can either stop into the Assessor's Office and pick up the necessary forms or you can down load them from our web page www.southoldtown.northfork.net/assessprs.htm. Or you can call the Assessors’ Office at 631-765-1937 and  they will mail you the forms.

Q: I am planning to build (or make addition to) my residence.  Is there a way of calculating  the tax consequences?

Yes, contact the Assessors Office and an estimate will be done for you. A copy of the blueprints will be helpful when calculating the estimate.

 

Q: I have lost the deed to my property, how can I replace it?

 

Contact the Assessors Office and they will make arrangements for you to get a replacement.

 

Q: I need copies of surrounding property record cards, are they available?

 

Fill out a FOIL request at the Town Clerks Office, allow 1 business day for us to have your request ready for you.  You are permitted only 4 property cards per day.  There is a 25 cent charge for each side of the property record card.
